Department of Education

Taylor University Fort Wayne maintains one of the most distinguished education programs in the nation. The education department's goal is to develop competent, caring, and reflective teachers prepared for world service.

But TUFW doesn’t stop there. We add to our excellent curriculum a new aspect: spiritual formation. Students are encouraged to apply faith-based learning. Students live in a Christ-centered community. And friendships are built among students and teachers, promoting mentorship and discipleship in the classrooms.

TUFW can help you apply your learning in your community, whether your calling is nearby or overseas. Because the program is based on experiential and applied learning, students enter area classrooms for field study during the freshman year course, "Education in America." Rural and inner-city student teaching opportunities abound in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Muncie, and Marion. Students even have the opportunity to student teach overseas for 7-8 weeks.

TUFW's teacher education program is accredited by NCATE (the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) and the Indiana Professional Standards Board. TUFW's education program is an exciting way to enter a profession that impacts young lives.
