Licensure
What is involved in getting your teacher's license?

Recommendation for an Indiana Teacher's License is made following a successful period of student teaching.

The teacher education program and all Taylor University graduation requirements must be completed.

Must pass the Praxis I: Academic Skills Assessments (reading, writing, and mathematics skills) and the Praxis II: Specialty Area Tests.

Must complete a teaching license application (State form #9331), including an original limited criminal history report.

If planning to teach in another state, certification requirements and application materials may be obtained by contacting the state's Department of Education. Upon request, the 2002-2003 Teacher Certification Requirements in All Fifty States is available for viewing.
What are the Praxis tests?

Assessments of pre-professional skills in reading, writing, and mathematics as part of the Indiana teacher certification process.

Administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Registration for the tests can be done by mail, online, or, if a Praxis Series test has previously been taken, one can re-register by phone.

To register by mail, a Registration Bulletin can be obtained from Professor Rebecca Moore (RC 113) on the Upland campus of Taylor University.

To register online visit www.ets.org/praxis. Online registration receives immediate confirmation of test center assignment.
