The Certificate in Human Resources provides a comprehensive human resource management foundation for those who intend to work, or are working, in healthcare settings. Courses focus primarily on diversity within the field of healthcare, and an exploration of interpersonal communication as it relates to management practices.

HUMAN RESOURCES IN HEALTHCARE - 3 credit hours
Course Description:  An examination of the supervisor's role in human resource planning, recruitment, selection, employee and management development, performance evaluation, and compensation.

MANAGING DIVERSE RESOURCES IN HEALTHCARE - 3 credit hours
Course Description:  A study of the competing perspectives on issues of communication, difference and diversity, and the ways in which issues of ethnicity, gender and disability impact interpersonal communication in care services.  Strategies for working with difference and diversity in the context of health and social care are also identified.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNICATION - 3 credit hours
Course Description:  Explores the key concepts and issues related to both interpersonal relationships and communication in the context of healthcare delivery.  Includes an examination of the social support functions of interpersonal communication. Examines listening, emotion, nonverbal behavior and conflict in interpersonal relationships.
