The Department of Social Work offers the following programs: |
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.... I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." — Matthew 25:35, 36, 40 (NIV)
The Social Work program is an experiential service learning program that offers students a professional degree at the end of four years. Several classes offer opportunities for volunteer experience directly related to social work. Students find areas of interest that they follow up with in junior and senior practicum years. The program develops skills in areas such as assessment, interviewing, communication and cultural competence. Social work opportunities are vast in the Fort Wayne and surrounding areas. Several graduates still live and work in the area. Our graduates are highly sought after because of their thorough training for the profession.
