Computer Information Systems

The AAS degree in Computer Information Systems Technology is directed toward preparing the computer technician for entry-level employment within a business environment. Much of the coursework includes technical certification.

Database Management
The course of study includes a foundation in business information systems, database theory and design, and the industry standard database language and choices on further courses in programming or database administration.

Network (CISCO and Microsoft option)
This specialty gives the student methods for designing, implementing, and administrating local area networks as well as network support and troubleshooting. Two focus options to choose from: CISCO and Microsoft (MCSA).

PC Support and Administration
This specialty provides the student with a curriculum that is more focused on using existing software/hardware. The student in this major is exposed to problem solving and troubleshooting techniques, utilizing the microcomputer as a tool, a minimum of two software packages, experience in the area of data manipulation, computer operating systems, hardware and software support, systems analysis and design, data communication, and database principles.

Programming
This specialty provides the student with problem solving techniques, utilizing the microcomputer as a tool, a minimum of three computer languages, experience in the area of data processing solving techniques, system analysis, design, and database principles. There is emphasis in designing, developing, and modifying software that businesses use.

Web Management
This specialty aims to equip students with adaptive skills in the development, administration, and management of Web systems.
