Grants and Scholarships
In general, grants and scholarships are "free money" offered to you to cover part of your cost of attending college. These awards do not have to be repaid, so obviously these are the most desirable awards to receive!
Is there a difference between a grant and a scholarship? This answer depends on the school. At TUFW, we generally refer to a grant as an award for which a student is eligible simply based on their situation in life – where they live, their level of financial need, or similar factors. We define a scholarship as an award for which the student is eligible based on a specific individual factor or achievement, such as an academic or leadership award. Either way, the dollars generally do not need to be repaid.
