Institutional Grants and Scholarships

A variety of grants and scholarships are offered by Taylor University Fort Wayne (TUFW) to pay for a portion of your costs here. One example, the Taylor General Grant award, is determined by your financial need. A couple other grants and scholarships are yours automatically if you meet the qualification requirements, but the AMOUNT may vary depending on your need. Several do not depend at all on need.

The majority of our grants and scholarships are renewable for all four years of your attendance here as long as you continue to meet the requirements.

Keep in mind that these institutional awards may help offset a portion of the difference in cost between a private school such as TUFW and state universities. Here are some details about the various grants and scholarships available:

Founder’s Academic Scholarship: $3,589 - 8,982

  • Awarded annually to Freshmen whose GPA, high school class rank, and SAT/ACT scores meet the established criteria
  • Students must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA to renew
  • Find out if you qualify for an award

Trustee’s Academic Scholarship: $997 - 6,390

  • Awarded annually to Freshmen whose GPA, high school class rank, and SAT/ACT scores meet the established criteria
  • Students must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA to renew
  • Find out if you qualify for an award

Alumni Dependent Scholarship: Up to $1000

  • Awarded annually
  • Awarded to full-time students who are dependents of an alumnus of Taylor University (either campus), Fort Wayne Bible College, or Summit Christian College
  • Must be approved by alumni committee
  • Must file the FAFSA form
  • Must have high school GPA of at least 2.5 to receive, and maintain 2.5 GPA at TUFW to renew

Allen County Scholarship: Up to $1000

  • Awarded to students who graduate from Allen County, IN high schools (Allen County home school graduates included)
  • Students must be enrolled full-time

Pastor/Missionary Dependent Scholarship: Up to $1500

  • Students must be full-time dependent sons or daughters of one whose primary earnings are from pastoral ministry or foreign missionary work
  • Requires submittal of Pastor/Missionary Dependent Award Form

Endowed Scholarships: Amounts vary
There are a variety of endowed scholarships available. These are the exception to the usual rule in that they are awarded for one year only. The awards are based on interest earnings from monetary gifts given to the school in past years. In recent years, over 100 awards have been given each year.

  • Students must be enrolled full-time
  • Scholarships may require an advisor recommendation
  • Minimum GPA required for some
  • Additional requirements vary for each scholarship
  • Most are available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors only

21st Century Match Scholarship: $3000 maximum
The 21st Century Scholars program is a state aid program available to Indiana students who qualify, sign up, and are accepted into the program in 7th or 8th grade. The students agree to stay in school and to refrain from using alcohol and drugs.

  • Students must be enrolled full-time and receive 21st Century dollars
  • Award matches the student’s state 21st Century Scholar award (to a max of $3,000)
  • Requires completion of the FAFSA.

Ramseyer Leadership Scholarship: Up to $2000
2008-2009 Deadline: February 2008

  • Students must be enrolled full-time and meet requirements set forth in the application
  • Based on recommendation from your Taylor Enrollment Counselor
  • Requires campus leadership involvement for renewal
  • Requires submittal of the Ramseyer Application

TU General Grant: Up to $9500
This is Taylor University Fort Wayne’s need-based award program.

  • Students must be enrolled full-time
  • Amount is need-based
  • Priority may be given to early applicants
  • Requires completion of the FAFSA

Church Matching Grants: Up to $750

  • Note that while there is no specific application deadline, matching funds are limited, so it is in your best interest to apply early
  • Payment should be received from church by August 1, 2008
  • Taylor matches up to $750 of an award from the church
  • Requires submittal of Church Matching Grant Form
