The Samuel Morris Scholars Program
The Samuel Morris
Scholars Program is designed to give access to a quality Christian
college education to Allen County residents from underprivileged
backgrounds, with particular emphasis on those who are students of
color or first generation college students. As a Samuel Morris Scholar,
you will receive a Taylor University Fort Wayne scholarship that, in
conjunction with your federal and state financial aid, covers your TUFW
tuition, fees, room and board, and books without using existing
finances from your family.
To be considered for a Samuel Morris Scholarship, you’ll need to...
- be a legal resident of Indiana and Allen County,
- be accepted for admission to TUFW,
- submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 10, 2008, for next fall,
- complete the Samuel Morris Scholarship application process and a brief on-campus interview.
In addition to receiving one of TUFW’s largest scholarships, as a Samuel Morris Scholar, you’ll...
- be a full-time TUFW student,
- complete an average of two hours per week of service in the community with an organization like PrimeTime or a local church (we’ll help you line up the right opportunity),
- probably live on campus for at least your first three years of college,
- receive mentoring as you transition to university life and complete your education.
Your scholarship will be renewed for a total of four years so long as you maintain your eligibility and make satisfactory academic progress.
The selection process is competitive as there are a limited number of Samuel Morris Scholars chosen each year. The selection committee may consider your financial need, whether or not either of your parents has earned college degrees, your academic background, whether your race or ethnicity is underrepresented at TUFW, or other factors.
