Outside Scholarships

Outside scholarships refers to scholarship funds awarded to you from an independent source that you can ‘take along’ to any college you attend. At TUFW, such awards are applied above and beyond any other aid you receive, to the extent this is possible. If needed, loan eligibility will be reduced in order to fit in the outside dollars. (In rare cases, you may receive so much aid that it is necessary to reduce another grant or scholarship in order to make room in the cost of attendance for the outside award.)

Many Web sites are available for outside scholarship searches. Some of these sites are listed below. In reality, our experience shows that the large majority of outside scholarships received by our students come from sources with which the student or family already has a contact. Such organizations include churches, a parent’s work place, your high school, local clubs, sororities or fraternities, your local library, and the Chamber of Commerce.

We encourage you to take the initiative to find potential sources for these awards. Many require an application process and the application experience can also be valuable to a student pursuing higher education.
