Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Schools that participate in federal aid programs must have and follow what is commonly called a 'Satisfactory Academic Progress' policy. Basically, this is a policy that monitors each student’s academic situation to make sure the student is making the "progress" that is expected toward his or her degree, in terms of both Grade Point Average and credit hours earned. If proper progress is not maintained, the student may lose eligibility for additional aid. In this way, the government and the school can be sure that the aid dollars awarded to students are being used wisely.

This is not something you should worry about now – we believe that you intend to do your best work when you come to TUFW and if there are problems, you generally will have adequate warning from both Financial Aid and our academic areas to take care of any problems before your aid eligibility would actually be affected. But we want to be sure you are aware up front that you do have some responsibility to meet certain academic expectations and requirements.
