State Grants
Indiana is one of the most generous states in terms of the aid provided for in-state students. In addition, it’s important to remember that eligible students attending private colleges receive more aid dollars than those attending public schools. Here are some important facts:
- You may or may not be eligible for state aid, depending on your family’s financial situation, as indicated by the Expected Family Contribution shown on the FAFSA
- State aid is available to those whose permanent residence was in Indiana as of the end of the prior year. For dependent students, the parents must also be Indiana residents.
- The amount of aid you receive varies depending on the type of high school diploma you received – Academic Honors, Core 40, or standard.
- To qualify, a student’s FAFSA must have been received by the federal processor by March 10.
Indiana State Grants: Estimated maximum of $10,992 in 2007-08
Deadline: FAFSA must be received by March 10
