Timeline

Fall of Senior Year

January – early February

  • Request your PIN and complete the FAFSA form at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. Do this AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after the start of the New Year. It’s best to do so AFTER you (and your parents, if you’re a dependent student) have completed your federal taxes for the prior year. But remember not to take a chance on missing any FAFSA submittal deadlines for the state in which you live or the schools in which you are interested. For attendance at Indiana colleges, the deadline by which an Indiana student’s FAFSA must be received by the federal processing center is March 10.

February

  • If you have not submitted the FAFSA, DO IT NOW! DON'T DELAY! Shortly after you submit your FAFSA, both you and TUFW will receive a summary of the information you submitted. Return any changes or corrections to the federal processor as soon as possible.

March (and following)

  • If you live in Indiana, your FAFSA MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE BY MARCH 10 in order for you to qualify for Indiana state aid. Also, if your church wishes to participate in the Church Matching Grant program, we suggest they submit the pledge form by March 10. (The form, along with additional information about this grant program, can be printed from the Forms/Applications page of this Web site.)

  • When we receive your FAFSA summary, we will send you a letter (by e-mail, if we have a valid e-mail address for you) giving details of any additional documents we need in order to complete your financial aid package. We’ll continue to send you such letters every few weeks until we have everything needed. Once all your documentation is in place, we’ll send you a detailed award letter explaining the aid for which you are eligible.

April – July

  • Complete application for Federal Stafford and PLUS loans if you are eligible.

  • Notify us of any scholarships you have received from outside sources. This will enable us to finalize your financial aid package. Check with your church and remind them to send their Church Matching Grant check to TUFW so that it is received by June 1.

  • Ask your guidance counselor to forward your FINAL high school transcript to Taylor University Fort Wayne.

  • Federal Stafford Loan and PLUS applications must be in our office by July 1 to insure disbursement for the August payment. If you have been awarded the Federal Perkins Loan, be sure to electronically sign your promissory note. You will need your FAFSA pin to complete this process.

  • Consider our monthly payment plan through Tuition Management Services (TMS).

August

  • Payment for the Fall semester is due this month.
