At Home at TUFW...

Hi! My name is Nicki Gahman and I am a freshman here at Taylor University Fort Wayne. I was homeschooled throughout all four of my high school years. When I was a junior in high school I heard about the Credits-in-Escrow program (the program TUFW offers for juniors and seniors in high school that allows them to receive college and high school credits). Since I only lived half an hour away from campus, I decided to apply here to take classes.

By the time my senior year rolled around, I started visiting and applying to the colleges that appealed to me. After applying to many different colleges, TUFW was the only university that really seemed to feel like home to me. TUFW also was very willing to help me figure out how to fill out my transcripts and other matters that apply to homeschoolers. Jennifer Woolever was my Enrollment Counselor. She was very willing to help and was always checking with us to make sure that all of our questions about enrolling were being answered. Calling a few times to just check up on me to see how my life was going, Jennifer was truly an affirming aspect of my decision to attend TUFW.

Living here on campus has also changed the whole college experience for me. The unity and friendship that everyone has in the residence halls is truly uplifting. And no one ever singles me out for being a homeschooler. Christ’s love is truly alive and well here at Taylor Fort Wayne.

Since I was used to a smaller classroom setting, the atmosphere here at TUFW is like home. My largest class this semester is approximately 30 students. All of my professors know me and whenever we pass in the halls, we exchange friendly greetings. I am extremely thankful that the Lord led me to Taylor University Fort Wayne.
