Summer Honors College (SHC)
June 22-27, 2008
Get a "snap shot" of Taylor University Fort Wayne! Each summer, juniors and seniors in high school are doing just this! They're taking advantage of the opportunity to explore college life at TUFW through our Summer Honors College (SHC) program – and you can too!
SHC will give you a way to earn college credit and experience a specific field of interest. You must be at least 16 years old (entering your junior or senior year of high school or a 2008 graduate) and have a GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to apply for SHC.
You may choose to take one of the five following SHC 2008 classes:
- Extreme Makeover: Transforming Lives and Restoring Communities
- Personal Identity, Star Supremacy and Social Ultimatums: Speaking to a Modern World
- Freelance Writing: How to Write and Sell Novels and Short Stories
- Get Psyched: Investigating Christian Psychology and Counseling
- It's Elementary: Explore a Career in Education
Each class is one week and students will earn one college credit. Class availability for each of the five classes listed is based on sufficient enrollment.
As a SHC student, you will live in the residence halls as you take courses during the day on our TUFW campus. This experience allows you to develop life-long friendships while getting a taste of real college life. And there’s nothing more "real" than mixing some fun activities in with the homework! In the evenings, past SHC students have enjoyed laser tag, coffee breaks, group devotional times, ultimate Frisbee, shopping at the local mall, miniature golf, go-carting and taking a run to the nearest ice cream or yogurt shop.
While the majority of SHC students come from the Midwest, we’ve had students attend from as far as Montana, California, Texas, Vermont, Connecticut, Minnesota and even Alaska! No matter where you’re from, SHC has proven to be beneficial for any student who decides to seek out God’s calling and give a week of their summer TUFW. Check out our student testimonials!
