Miriam Welty

Miriam V. Welty ('40), 89, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at The Oaks at Riverstone in Canton, GA. She was born on March 2, 1918, in Mt. Cory, OH. She retired in 1986 from Fort Wayne Bible College (Taylor University Fort Wayne) after 16 years of service. She was a member of the First Missionary Church, Fort Wayne, IN, past president of the Women's Missionary Church Society; past president of the district board of the Missionary Church; and past president and secretary of Friends of Fort Wayne Bible College (Taylor University Fort Wayne) Auxiliary.

Miriam was the wife of the Reverend Herald J. Welty ('40), who was the former registrar at Fort Wayne Bible College, and was at her husband's side as pastor's wife all of her adult life.

Survivors include sons, James (Pat) Welty of Canton, GA, John Welty of Santa Monica, CA; grandchildren, Lisa Welty, Brad (Karen) Welty; great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Jacob Welty; brothers, Lyle Steiner of Royal Oak, MI, Gerald Steiner of San Diego, CA, Dwight Steiner of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.

Viewing is Saturday, November 24, 2007, at D.O. McComb & Sons, 6301 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Funeral services follow at 3:00 pm at McComb with the Reverend Jim Johnson officiating.
