Lady Falcons Basketball Coach Cleveland Inge predicts this year he’ll have a “much quicker, much stronger team with a lot more talent” than in previous years.“We’ve had a lot of talented individuals in the past,” Inge said. “But I think overall this is the most talented team we’ve had in years.”
Returning players this season include junior Andrea Burns, sophomore Ashley Inge, and sophomore Tayla Cheviron, the leading scorer from last season. Another returning player will be senior Lynnea Johnson, who Inge describes as “exciting to watch, getting rebounds and scoring whenever she wants to.”
New players this season include freshmen Denise Lehman, Jessica Lambert, and Angelica Glaspie. Inge says Angelica is a “true point guard who knows her role, knows how to pass the ball well, sees the floor very well, and is very competitive.”
Another new addition to the roster is sophomore Donna Beth “D.B.” Craig, a transfer from Asbury College in Kentucky. Inge says she’s “young, but very talented.”
Inge describes the overall team as being young. He doesn’t anticipate this being a problem as the season gets underway, though. He guarantees spectators will see “a fast-paced, high-tempo strong defense style of basketball.”
“We’re going to have fun. If we’re not having fun, there’s something I’m not doing right,” said Inge.
Coach Inge is aided by assistant coaches Jodi Inge and Christin Easterhaus. He good-humoredly says that their help reduces his job to “stand on the sidelines and make it look like I know what I’m doing.”
The Lady Falcons women’s basketball team’s regular season began November 2 and will wrap up February 23.
