Lehman Hall

The S.A. Lehman Memorial Library was the first building erected on the
south campus. The library building committee recommended to the
governing board on March 7, 1955, that Mr. Lehman be honored by having
the new library named for him. Zoning issues and public hearings
delayed the commencement of the project, but groundbreaking ceremonies
took place April 12, 1959. After further zoning delays, the S.A. Lehman
Memorial Library was dedicated May 27, 1961. In the Fall of 2004, after
the opening of the new Calvin H. English Library, the building was
renamed Lehman Hall. It currently houses the offices of the
Center for Lifelong Learning.
