Smith Joins TUFW Leadership Team

Photo of Christina SmithTUFW is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina K. Smith as special assistant to the chancellor for strategic initiatives, effective June 23.

In her new role, Smith is responsible for overseeing TUFW's strategic planning processes and will assist with the messaging and positioning of the campus before key stakeholders. She also will spearhead invigorated efforts to cultivate new and existing relationships with individuals, businesses and foundations to garner significantly increased financial support for TUFW's educational mission.

Smith brings to TUFW extensive leadership experience that includes governmental and humanitarian service in the Middle East and Central Asia as well as leadership in higher education and public policy. She has served as a foreign policy adviser to two presidential administrations and Muslim governments in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and the Palestinian territories.

Smith most recently served as Director of Athletic Development and Major Gifts at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne. She returned to Fort Wayne in the summer of 2007 after serving for six years in governmental and humanitarian capacities in Afghanistan.

She brings a depth and breadth of leadership and fundraising talent to TUFW that will make a significant impact as we pursue our vision of becoming a Christian academic community most recognized for affordability and opportunity to engage our culture and our city in transformational ways," said Dr. Duane Kilty, TUFW's chancellor.

A Fort Wayne native and Homestead High School graduate, Smith holds a Master of Arts in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and earned her bachelor's degree from Huntington University, where she double-majored in History and Bible & Religion.

"I believe TUFW has a very significant role to play in educating 21st century leaders who are prepared, passionate, and well-positioned to transform communities in positive and redemptive ways. I look forward to working very closely with Dr. Kilty and Sherri Harter, TUFW's associate vice president for advancement, to garner the relationships and resources needed to position the campus for significant growth in the years ahead."
