TUFW Prepared to Welcome New Students
Date: August 14, 2008
TUFW will welcome new students on Friday, August 22, 2008. TUFW's annual Welcome Weekend allows new students the opportunity to become better acquainted with their new "home away from home" before upperclassmen return and classes begin. It also gives parents the opportunity to meet with TUFW's Parents Cabinet members and another chance to meet University leadership.
"Welcome Weekend plays a significant role in introducing new students and their families to the vibrant campus community at TUFW," said Micah Barcalow, Director of Vocational Calling. "The entire Student Development staff and all of the student leaders on campus are incredibly excited about the upcoming weekend."
Welcome Weekend activities focus on introducing new students to college life while assisting both students and parents in the initial transition. Friday's activities include an activities fair, the annual Welcome Dinner, a mixer with parents and students, and an ice cream social with the Chancellor's Council.
Saturday begins with the annual Dedication Service, followed by the Farewell Brunch. After the parents leave following the brunch, the activities continue for the students. Saturday afternoon will feature fun and games with a ping pong tournament, kickball, ultimate Frisbee, and a walk around Foster Park. In the evening, students will participate in "Is This Really College?," a program giving a humorous look at college life.
