TUFW to Celebrate Homecoming & Parents' Weekend 2008
Date: September 06, 2008
TUFW will celebrate its annual Homecoming & Parents' Weekend September 26 and 27, 2008."Homecoming & Parents' Weekend is a great time to embrace our past and to celebrate our present and future," said Michael Mortensen, Director of Alumni Relations. "It's always a great time to see alumni and parents from around the world come together for fun and fellowship."
One of the most popular events during Homecoming & Parents' Weekend is the annual Silent Auction, which is Saturday, September 27, from 10:30 am-5 pm. Organized by TUFW's Parents' Cabinet and Joni Kilty, first lady of TUFW, the Silent Auction raises money for the Student Emergency Fund, which assists students in times of acute financial crisis.
Friday festivities include Homecoming Chapel, the Class of 1958 reunion luncheon, and the inaugural induction of individuals into TUFW's Athletic Hall of Fame.
Stephen Morley, long-time coach and winner of two national championships at Fort Wayne Bible College (now TUFW) and Southwestern Christian College, will speak during chapel on Friday at 10 am at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd.
On Saturday, events will begin bright and early with the Chancellor's Golf Challenge at Foster Park Golf Course from 8-11 am. For Ladies Only, hosted by Joni Kilty, begins at 9:30 am. Other events for the day include a family doubles ping pong tournament, the Celebration! Luncheon, Archivist for a Day, a men's varsity soccer match, and entertainment and coffee in the Calvin H. English Library in addition to class reunions for years ending in "3" and "8," Taylor's Got Talent, and book signings with TUFW's alumni authors.
