Successful Authors to Give Lectures

The Taylor University Fort Wayne Professional Writers Lecture Series 2008-09 kicks off this fall with two successful authors, Keri Wyatt Kent and Claudia Mair Burney. Kent and Burney will give lectures October 9 and November 20, respectively, at 3 p.m. in Witmer Hall, 1025 W. Rudisill Blvd. These lectures are free and open to the public.Kent is a longtime Chicago newspaper reporter and writes regular features for Christianity Today, Today's Christian Woman, MomSense, and Outreach magazines. She is the author of six books with a seventh on the way and has coauthored or contributed to several others. She travels around the country leading retreats and speaking as well. Claudia Mair Burney is a popular novelist with Simon & Schuster. She lives in Detroit and maintains a popular spirituality blog. Burney wrote one of the most talked-about books of 2007, Zora and Nicky, which explores an interracial relationship between Christians.
The lectures will be held in room 10 on the lower level of Witmer Hall. A question and answer session will be held after each lecture.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the writing processes of two successful, practicing novelist/writers who make a living by writing. They will be able hear about and ask questions concerning getting a book published, working with publishers, editors, etc. Also, attendees will discover ways to incorporate their own personal experience into their writing.
