Music Majors Perform and Place in State Competition
Date: November 10, 2008
The National Association of Teachers of Singing contest was held this past weekend (November 1st) at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. Students from all over the state and most of our universities (IU Bloomington, IN Wesleyan, DePauw, etc) were present to sing music from all genres including musical theater.
The level of singing was excellent and the level of competition breathtaking. Sara Davis, teacher of TUFW music majors and Marie Lakin, accompanist and director of music took seniors Tesia Sheffield and Katie Mannarino. Both girls performed well.
At the end of the day, all first place winners sang in the winners recital. Katie Mannarino placed fourth in the state with her performance.
Katie and Tesia will both be in the studio recital Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m. in Witmer 10. Everyone is encouraged to attend this free recital.
