Student Activities Council

The mission of the Student Activities Council is to provide extracurricular programming as a social enhancement to the campus community.

  • The unique and distinct personality of each year's cabinet also provides new and innovative student activities

  • Annual events include: 80's Roller Skating, Airband, Christmas Banquet, Mr. TUFW, Falcon Film Festival
  • THE EVENTS:
    • 80's Roller Skating

      • a one night throwback to everyone's favorite decade-the 80's!

      • exclusive use of a local roller skating facility

      • skate for a couple of hours to some of the greatest hits of the 80's

      • most people in attendance dress and do their hair in 80's styles

      • live 80's bands have been known to make an appearance

    • Airband

      • a lip sync and choreography contest highlighting the creativity and imagination of TUFW students

      • also, a themed show interwoven between each of the musical acts providing comedic relief

      • Taylor students, faculty, staff, alumni and people from the community are welcome to attend

      • has had press coverage by local newspapers

         

    • Christmas Banquet

      • a formal evening hosted by different reception halls each year

      • end of fall semester celebration providing an elegant dining atmosphere.

      • post dinner entertainment is typically a more casual form of fun, like ice skating

         

    • Mr. TUFW

      • TUFW's own male, themed pageant spoofing the format of a typical beauty pageant

      • themes vary each year

      • participants are incredibly creative and entertaining in their efforts to be crowned the next Mr. TUFW

  • Falcon Film Festival

    • a short film contest loosely based on the Oscars

    • entries are as creative as the students that submit their movies

    • prizes are awarded based on acting, scripting, directing and editing

    • students who attend the show also are served free dessert
