Clyde Taylor House
In the winter of 1996-97, Taylor University Fort Wayne purchased this brick house located on the South side of Rudisill Boulevard. Originally it was known simply as the "Brick House," it was renamed as the Clyde W. Taylor house in 1999, in honor of Clyde W. Taylor's dedication to missions and service to the University. Mr. Taylor traveled to more than 100 countries and their mission fields and pastured several churches. He also holds the longest tenure on the University's governing board-39 years!
The Clyde Taylor house originally served as administrative offices for TUFW, but was converted to house upper class students in the Fall of 2004. As housing needs on campus change from year to year, the Clyde Taylor house provides a home for men some years and women other years.
Like the Lillian Rolf Home, the Clyde Taylor House is a theme housing unit. Residing in Clyde Taylor is a Community Life Coordinator, who promotes community through a variety of activities and opportunities throughout the academic year. The CLC also creates a vision for the house and students are selected based upon their desire to be part of the thematic community. In the past, Clyde Taylor has been home to students studying computer programming, students interested in community service, and students interested in additional accountability and Bible study. Students desiring to reside in the Clyde Taylor house need to fill out an application in the Spring.
