General Housing Policy

Residents

All single, traditional (under age 24) students who are enrolled in 12 or more hours per semester are REQUIRED to live in Taylor University Fort Wayne housing unless they are living in the home of their parent(s)/guardian(s). Students seeking exception to this policy must fill out an Off-Campus Request Form and receive approval from the Director of Residence Life.

Facilities

Residence Hall facilities are designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students and visitors. Residence Hall remain locked 24 hours a day. Residents gain entry into the Hall by use of a security card issued to them at the beginning of each academic year. Residence hall facilities at Taylor University Fort Wayne are designed as living-learning environments where students are challenged to learn more about, mature in, and apply their faith. Taylor University Fort Wayne strives to provide a community living experience that demonstrates a variety of learning opportunities that go beyond the scope of their classroom experiences.

Hall Regulations

Specific regulations are listed each year in the Student Life Handbook that is distributed during Welcome Weekend. All regulations are gone over by the Residence Hall Director during the first All Hall Meeting which takes place the first week of classes each semester.

Housing Deposit and Room Assignments

A $50.00 housing deposit must be paid to Student Development prior to receiving a room assignment. This deposit is returned when a student moves out of Taylor University Fort Wayne housing for any reason or cancels his or her acceptance. Charges for damage to residence hall property and other university-administered facilities are deducted from this housing deposit. Room and roommate assignments are made prior to the beginning of the Fall semester for first year students and transfers. Assignments are made as residence hall applications are received. Returning students participate in a Room Draw each Spring semester that allows them to select their own roommate and room.

Room Furnishings

Rooms come furnished with mini-blinds, beds (mattresses), desks and chairs, dressers, and closet space. In some halls, built in bookcase space is available.
