Andrea Burns g09 moved to Zambia, Africa on April 25, 2011. She has committed two years to work with Heart of the Bride Ministries. While there, she will spend most of her time at the Sara Rose Children’s Home – building relationships with 40 orphans living there. She will also be involved with Nehemiah Boy’s Ranch and Silent Voices Maternity Home, whose ministry focus is on rescuing and restoring boys and pregnant girls from the streets.

Wayne g75 visited Myanmar, China and the Philippines from March 17-30. He saw great results in Myanmar and China, and he was glad to see that many other groups were taking charge in the Philippines. Much of Wayne’s remaining travel budget will be used on an upcoming trip to Surabaya in July. He is trusting the Lord to supply an additional $5,000 so that he can participate in discipleship training programs in Cairo and Myanmar later this year.

Rev. Keith Van Tilberg g75 went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on June 12, 2010. Keith and his first wife, Carolyn Sue (Stoner) fs75 – who preceded Keith in death – had two children Alan of Alliance, NE, and Cathy Hillard (Terry) of Richmond, IN. After they both graduated FWBC, Keith went into full time pastoral ministry with C&MA. After Sue passed in 1984, Keith remarried Rebecca Ann Fowler of Bloomington, IN. Keith took on the role of raising 3 additional sons, Brad Fowler (Stacy), Lance Fowler (Lori), and Mark Fowler (Lisa). Keith and Becki also had another daughter, Rebecca McClain (James). Keith was very committed to the service of Jesus Christ and touched many lives deeply through his ministry. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, 6 children, and 17 grandchildren.

Terry g74 retired in 2007 from the Post Office after serving for over 30 years. He is now working as an activity assistant for nursing care residents at Swiss Village in Berne, IN. They plan games and special events for the residents. Terry also gets to read scripture, sing hymns and pray with them. Terry and his wife, Susan, are also enjoying spending time with their three granddaughters, Ava (2) and twins Blakeley and Karsyn (1).

Ron is in his 20th year of pastoring the Church of Genesis in New Castle, and serves as volunteer police chaplain for the New Castle City Police department and the Pennsylvania State Police. He was recently asked to serve as International Director for Spanish America Outreach, a mission organization based in Guatemala. Pam is a case manager for an insurance brokerage firm. They have two children – Tamara is a family therapist in Fort Campbell, KY and Ryan is a call center supervisor with Infocision in New Castle.

Nancy Helm g73 went home to the Lord on October 8, 2010 after a battle with cancer. Before her passing, she was involved with the Cancer Walk and was a chairman for the Relay for Life. Nancy had been a kindergarten teacher at Monmouth Elementary in Decatur before it closed and served on the library board. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur, was involved with the Adams County jail ministry, and was a prayer warrior. Tom g72 just finished his 20th year as the play by play voice of Columbus High School basketball and football on WYGB radio. He also serves as the chaplain for several area teams. Helen Kidd
Helen g72 went to be with her heavenly Father on April 17, 2010. She was living in Van Nuys, CA and attended Community Bible Church in that town. She loved her Savior and church family and served them both faithfully. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in January and passed in April as the cancer had spread to her liver, lungs and eventually her brain. She maintained a powerful testimony until the end and freely expressed her faith in God's plan for her life even in this illness. Many people spoke at her memorial service and as Helen would have wanted Jesus got the glory for her life...a good work He completed (Philippians 1:6). Helen is survived by her mother, Marjorie, and her brother and sister-in-law Rev. Don g88 and Sue Kidd.

On June 30, 2010, Olive g69 left Mali, Africa for the last time as a missionary. After 30 years of service with the Alliance, Olive will officially retire on September 30. Olive is transitioning out of Africa, into retirement, and into marriage! In December 2006, God brought a very special person into her life. Roger McConnell, a man from her home church, took the time and effort to get to know Olive while she was living in Africa. He patiently courted her from a distance and proposed to her in March of 2009. Olive and Roger were married August 7, 2010.

Cheryl continues to write devotionals and short stories for publications as well as working on her first book. His wife, Jane (Swanson) g69 achieved her PhD in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, UK, in 1987.
Richard Hostetler
Rev. Richard Hostetler g65 went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2010, following open heart surgery. Richard served the Lord in Haiti through church planting, theological education by extension, and served as the district superintendent. In 1979, he became pastor of First Missionary Church in Bluffton, OH. He earned his Masters in Christian Ministries in 1984 from Huntington College. Richard leaves behind his wife Yvonne, his daughter Anne (Hostetler) Stokes fs87, son-in-law Alan Stokes, son Eric Hostetler g89, and a grandson Jonathan.

They are presently serving as Deans of Men and Women at the Word of Life Bible Institute on Jeju Island, South Korea. This is the first year for this institute which has 33 students from Korea, Japan, Canada and the US. They have committed to serve through the end of June.

Stan has had the opportunity to preach at several churches – one of which is praying for a revival. Their men’s group is going strong with men turning their lives over to Christ. Rev. Franklin Graber g63 went to be with the Lord on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2011 in Haysville, KS. After attending FWBC, Frank attended Boston Theological Seminary and Indiana University. He was ordained by the Missionary Church Association and was accepted by the United Methodist Church Kansas West Conference. After marrying Linda Lou (Lewis) in 1960, he spent 35 years pastoring in Vermont, Illinois, Indiana, New York, and Kansas. He also spent 18 months as the YFC director in Berne, IN. Frank is survived by Linda Lou, his daughter Tamra Gigstad; four sons, Timothy, Steven, Mark, and David; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his brothers Lee and Martin; and his sister Carolyn Costello.

Vincent Rupp, Jr. g63 passed away on February 9, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ where he lived for the past 32 years. Vincent began his career as a teacher at Huntertown High School and went on to teach at several schools in Ohio. Dr. Donald Gerig g62, who served as the sixth and finald president of FWBC and SCC, died February 23, 2010, following a battle with cancer. He was 70. Don left TUFW after the merger in 1992, but continued working to develop Christian leaders. He served on the board of Bethel University in St. Paul, MN and pastored the Huron Hills Baptist Church near Ann Arbor, MI. After retiring in 2002, he was sent by the Overseas Council to teach short courses on leadership. Paul Brennan
Paul g60 returned in October 2009, from Papua New Guinea, where he dedicated the newly built Enga Cultural Center. He started this project in 1976, and they now have a brand-new $2 million facility, additional staff, and an enlarged program. He has written two articles about the trip which will be published in “Paradise,” the in-flight magazine of Air Niugini. He has also recently co-authored a Hawaiian book called KAILUA, after working on it for over 25 years.

Bob and Liz (Kimmer) Kirby g58 went to Nome, AK, on July 18, 2010. They have gone up each summer over the past 11 years with a team of 10 others from the Tucson, AZ, area to assist with various projects at Radio KICY in Nome. They pray for good weather, travel mercies, and safety on their work projects during their three week trip.

Edwin Jones
Rev. Edwin Jones g57, a long time minister in Clarkson, MI and active member of the community died December 7, 2009 after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Edwin served as pastor of the Midland (MI) Missionary Church for 5 years; was in full-time Evangelism for 20 years preaching in the U.S. and Canada, and served as pastor of the Clarkston Missionary Church (MI) for over 20 years. After retirement he enjoyed substitute teaching at Clarkton junior and senior high schools and was a regular contributor of guest opinions in The Oakland Press. Edwin is survived by his wife, Joanne (May) fs57; son Rev. Steve Jones, daughter-in-law Sue Jones, daughter Melanie Kuntzman, son-in-law Robert Kuntzman; and eight grandchildren.

Robert Dye
Rev. Robert Dye g56 went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2009. Robert was ordained in the Missionary Church and was also highly involved with the Friends church. Known as the “Cookie Man,” Robert delivered cookies to Berne businesses and shut-ins every Monday. Robert had been living at Swiss Village since October 30, 2006. Surviving are his wife Judith, son Robert Dye, Jr. g64, Sandra (Dye) Johnson, David Dye, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Delma Schlabach

Delma (Stricklin) Schlabach fs55 passed away February 5, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer. After studying music and missions at FWBC, Delma received her teaching credentials from Sherwood Music Conservatory in Chicago. Delma met her husband Clarke fs54 while at FWBC. Delma lived her life totally immersed in her three loves: God, Family and Music. She taught music for over 50 years and was very innovative and progressive – she started the first private music studio in Southern California utilizing a multi-piano electronic teaching lab. Delma also used her musical gifts to play as pianist or organist for several churches over the years. She is survived by Clarke, her son Tim (Debby) Schlabach, three daughters Sandra (Jim) Gilberto, Becky Lawrence, Deanne (Douglas) Malousis, two sisters, and nine grandchildren.
Barbara McGranor

Barbara (Sites) McGranor fs55 went to heaven on November 25, 2010. Barbara was passionate about quilting and especially passionate about her family. She and her husband Rev. Thomas McGranor TUUg58, met at FWBC. They were married in 1955, and Thomas transferred to Taylor University. They had 4 children and 7 grandchildren including a set of twins. On December 30, 2010 their first great-grandson was born. Barbara was very involved in the church society, the United Methodist Women, parsonage standards, and she and Thomas were representatives to World Council on Methodism in Kenya. Barbara worked as an elementary school teacher and as the church secretary for 9 years. She retired when she first battled cancer in 1987. She fought cancer four times before passing away from it.
Al and Mary Bell

Al g55 and Mary (Chapman) Bell fs61 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 3, 2010 with their children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Al was a pastor with the Christian Union Churches for 20 years. They attended a Bible Church in Chillicothe for 20 years and have been working at Liberty Baptist Church in Chillicothe since then. Al taught school for 30 years near Lancaster, OH. Mary completed her education at Ohio University. She has worked in various educational positions in the Chillicothe area since then.

Joan "Jo" (Clauser) Gerig g54 died January 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Joan married Leon “Lee” Gerig g54 in 1953. Joan and Lee lived in Indiana, Arizona, California, Washington, and Oregon. Joan taught piano for 50 years. She was a loving wife and mother to Greg (Sandy) and Bob (Lisa). In addition to her husband and sons, Joan leaves 4 brothers Keith, Neil, James g62, and Ken; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Robert Seek g53 entered eternal glory on December 8, 2010. Robert pastored Missionary Churches in Ohio and Maryland. He also volunteered at the Hagerstown Christian Rescue Mission in Maryland for more than 50 years. He leaves behind, Dorothy, his wife of 63 years.

Dr. Zenas Gerig g51 went home to his heavenly reward on September 15, 2011. Zenas was one of the founders of Jamaica Theological Seminary. He is remembered by his wife, Esther (Lehman) g52; his son Stephen g76 and daughter-in-law Roxanne (Ogden) g76, son Stanley g79 and daughter-in-law Cindy (Marks) fs85; his daughter Laurel Charles g77 and son-in-law Mervin g76; his brother Dale g52 and sister-in-law Beth (Cornell) g53; his sister Ruth Imler g53 and brother-in-law John fs54, and grandchildren.
Wava Bueschlen
Wava g51, long-time Fort Wayne campus librarian passed away on March 26, 2010. Wava was born on May 23, 1928 in Bay Port, MI. She was a member of the first graduating class after FWBI became FWBC. Before returning to FWBC as an employee, she served as a missionary with Christian Business and Professional Women, now called Stonecroft, Inc. with her firend and roommate Mary Ethel Mengel, who passed away in 2008. After serving as the library director for over 25 years, Wava retired in July of 1998.
Edwin Eby
Edwin (Ted) Eby g51 met with his heavenly Father on May 21, 2008. After graduating from FWBC, Ted went on to complete his education at Central Michigan University. After nearly 62 years of marriage to Marie, Ted died on the same farm he was born on. God provided many places for Ted to serve him before bringing him Home.
Judith Lewis

Rev. Judith Lewis g51 passed away on March 16, 2008. Judy grew up in Celina, OH. She was instrumental in leading her parents to Christ when she was nine years old. Judy met her husband, Dale Lewis g53 at FWBC where she studied Bible and children’s ministry and sang in the a cappella choir. Judy was an ordained minister and served as the pastoral counselor at the Central Community Church of God. She also taught Bible classes for 19 years. She was so admired, that over 500 attended her home going service. Judy is survived by Dale, her three children Darlene, Larry and Randy, and 8 grandchildren.

Rose fs50 thanks the Lord for answered prayers in the form of a home/school they recently constructed which offers peace, rest and blessing to those who visit. She has been able to host many friends and family members from Anchorage. The highlight of each week is a Bible study that is held on Thursday mornings. God has grown it to 12-17 attendees each week.

Helen g47 passed away this past weekend in Laguna Woods, CA, where she and husband Arthur had been living in a retirement home. For many years they served as teachers – including teaching in Jamaica. When they retired, Art pastored churches and wherever they have lived, they have been ministering servants. Helen was not ill long and had a quiet, easy home going. Helen is survived by Art and daughters Roberta Cruzen fs71, Lois Rozet, and Joy Sena.

Jim g46 and Mary (Cable) Geahlen fs45 have celebrated 65 years of marriage and 66 years of ministry. Jim has been fighting bone cancer and also had a massive heart attack last year. In October, Mary fell and broke her hip and suffered a mild stroke following surgery. However, they praise God for salvation through Jesus as well as for their 4 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gladys (Chapman) Reifel g45 went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2011. Her husband of 62 years, Arthur g45, passed in 2007. After receiving her associate degree in missions from FWBC, she and Art spent over 43 years on the mission field in Africa. She is survived by Connie (Keith) Gary, Earl (Clare) Reifel, Eva Reifel, Elmer (Joann) Reifel, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Eleanor Warner

Eleanor (Waltman) Warner g45, former "First Lady" of FWBC President Tim Warner g50, passed away on June 14, 2010 after an extended illness. In addition to serving as "first lady," Eleanor had been a library staff member at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, a missionary in Africa and a school teacher in Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Fort Wayne Women's Club Bible Study, a lay counselor for Freedom in Christ Ministries and a member of Fellowship Missionary Church. Surviving are her husband Dr. Timothy Warner, sons Timothy (Linda) Warner and Marcus g82 (Brenda) Warner, daughers Cheryl g71 (Daniel) Jore and Gwen g78 (Dave fs82) DeSelm.

He then served off and on at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church in Goshen, IN, and Glen Ellyn Missionary Church in Glen Ellyn, IL. John and Helen then spent 7 years in Sri Lanka with Transworld Radio. Victor Poser
Rev. Victor Poser g43 met with the Lord on August 26, 2009. Victor was ordained in 1947. After graduating from FWBI, he went on to graduate from Nyack College and Cleveland Bible College as well. Victor retired from his ministry at Kenton Alliance Church in 1987, but he remained a member. He also retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital and the Hardin County Home after ten years of service there. Surviving are his wife Mary (Heyworth) fs42, daughter Jackie fs68 and son-in-law Bruce Henkel, daughter-in-law Vickie Poser, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother Edward Poser TUUg49.
